Mentors & Allies

Be a Guiding Force in a Young Rider’s Journey.

Mentees are youth aged 17 and under who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color and seek transformative equestrian experiences through individualized or group lessons and participation in events.

Mentors, who also identify as Black, Indigenous or Person of Color who volunteer to provide guidance and support during lessons, helping mentees grow and thrive.

Allies, regardless of background, contribute their time and talents to support the organization through event planning, inventory management, and other behind-the-scenes roles, ensuring the success of The CREW community.

Whether you're a mentee, mentor, or ally, you're invited to join us and be part of a space that values growth, connection, and empowerment for all.

Note: Lessons are currently paused, but memberships are open! All lessons included in your membership will be redeemable during our 2026 lesson season, beginning Spring 2026.

My favorite thing about The CREW is watching mentees' realization of their confidence and power.

Who are The CREW Mentors?

CREW Mentors are trusted adults who walk alongside our youth as they explore horsemanship and themselves. These dedicated volunteers—proudly identifying as BIPOC—serve as powerful role models, creating meaningful connections and representation that reflect the youth we serve.

Through consistent one-on-one support, mentors help mentees build confidence, emotional awareness, and a deep sense of belonging—all while learning the healing language of horses. No prior riding experience is needed—just a steady heart and a commitment to showing up.

As a mentor, you’ll:

  • Attend equine sessions 2x/month or more

  • Build a trusted relationship with a CREW mentee

  • Encourage emotional growth and confidence

  • Participate in mentor trainings and group check-ins

Mentors commit to one full season (Spring/Summer or Winter) and are required to pass a background check.

Who are The CREW Allies?

You don’t have to ride to make an impact. CREW Allies are the helping hands that keep our mission moving—coordinating events, assisting with family outreach, supporting workshops, and amplifying our story online.

If you're passionate about youth empowerment, horses, and community—but prefer to serve in flexible, behind-the-scenes ways—this role is for you.

As an Ally, you might:

  • Help coordinate workshops or community events

  • Support volunteer outreach, scheduling, or donor communication

  • Assist with marketing, logistics, or general admin needs

  • Spread awareness on social media or through community networks

Allies choose their own time commitment and are welcomed with the same warmth and appreciation as our mentors.

We proudly welcome Allies from all backgrounds as cherished members of The CREW, united by their commitment to empowerment, inclusion, and community. Join us and become an Ally today!
