Chauntel Smith
Co-Founder and Board President
I am deeply passionate about empowering youth through equine education, combining my love for both children and horses to lead with purpose and vision. With a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, I bring strategic insight and organizational leadership to my work, ensuring that every program we offer is sustainable, impactful, and community-centered.
I have over five years of experience in education and more than 25 years as an allied healthcare professional in the pharmaceutical industry. This diverse background allows me to approach my role as President and Executive Director of The CREW Urban Youth Equestrians with a unique blend of operational acumen, compassionate leadership, and a commitment to long-term growth.
Throughout my journey, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and a Head Coach for girls' basketball—roles that allowed me to create spaces where young people of color feel seen, supported, and inspired to lead. These experiences have shaped my commitment to building inclusive communities that nurture leadership, resilience, and opportunity.
As a Co-Founder of The CREW, I’m honored to give back to the very community that has shaped me. I truly believe in the power of what we’re building. The CREW is more than a program—it’s a movement that reimagines who belongs in the equestrian world. The connection between our youth and our horses is powerful, healing, and full of possibility.
Together with our community, we are transforming what it looks like to be an equestrian—creating a sanctuary for growth, confidence, and lifelong impact!
